Well, if you know me, you know me—but here are a few random facts about me anyway!
- I have a PhD in Education, though to be honest—I know more about learning than education (yes, there’s a difference!).
- I’m the author of an imperfect but important book ‘Academic by Design’, designed to help parents and educators improve children’s learning.
- I used to be a language-learning enthusiast, English, Spanish, French, Russian, Mandarin, and German all made the list. Unfortunately, life got busy, and most of them have been collecting dust in the attic of my brain.
- Now I focus more on the process of learning itself. I teach the science of learning to parents and educators.
- Despite starting to learn English independently at 25, I still managed to write a 120,000-word thesis, packed with advanced statistical methods—in English. And yes, I did it all long before ChatGPT could lend a hand!
- That is one of the reasons I now help younger students develop effective learning strategies and guide Master’s and PhD students in mastering the skills of learning, reading, organizing knowledge, and writing.
- That is the reason I am working on an another book ‘Mastering English for University and Professional Growth’: A Guide for Independent Learners.
- I’m the proud father of an academically curious child with a wide range of passions (e.g. herpetology, physics, advanced maths, politics, writing and drawing). As many parents, I am worried about his future in the world dominated by AI.
- I’m a Polish guy who’s called Northern Ireland home for the past 20 years.
