Many parents dream of their children having photographic memories and remembering everything they learn. Unfortunately, we all differ in our memory capacities, and the truth is, photographic memory doesn’t really exist. To help kids learn better, it’s crucial for parents to understand how memory works. Without this understanding, parents might unintentionally use the wrong tools, materials, strategies, and approaches, which won’t align with how memory actually functions.

That’s why, in my book Academic by Design: A Research-Based Guide to Children’s Learning Success, I’ve dedicated four out of the 48 chapters to supporting memory. Today, I want to offer you a FREE chapter on working memory—the engine for learning that influences language development, oral comprehension, reading success, mathematical skills, attention, and overall academic performance. This chapter includes essential strategies and approaches to support working memory.  Get insights on supporting your child’s memory with research-driven advice!
